Dom Pérignon Rosé 2009 radiates with the warmth of its vintage — a vibrant dance of rose petals, ripe raspberries, and hints of orange zest, layered with whispers of spice and brioche. Silky and voluptuous, it caresses the palate with depth, energy, and an elegant, lingering finish. The result of over 12 years of aging on lees, this cuvée embodies both the intensity and refinement that define Dom Pérignon’s timeless artistry.

Peaches, fresh crushed strawberries and roses on the nose. Full-bodied and generous. Fine tannins that frame the wine beautifully and set it up for a fresh finish. Some fruit tea and cedar undertones. Enticing finish with hints of bitterness. Savory. Drink or hold.

In comparison to the charming, pure 2008 Dom Pérignon Rosé, the 2009 Dom Pérignon Rosé possesses a ripe, dense bouquet with aromas of dark berries, licorice, dried white flowers, toast and pastry, enhanced by delicate, racy smoky hints. Full-bodied, broad and rich, it’s dense and phenolic due to the approximately 15% still red wine sourced from grapes planted in the villages of Hautvilliers, Aÿ and Bouzy, culminating in a protracted, sapid and chalky finish. Although already thoroughly enjoyable, it should age well over the next 10 years. This blend of 56% Pinot Noir and 44% Chardonnay was disgorged in March 2022 with a dosage of five grams per liter.

The latest rendition of the Dom Pérignon Rosé Champagne, the 2009, was released a few weeks ago. Traditionally, the rosé iteration of Dom Pérignon makes its debut after the release of its white counterpart. The 2009 Dom Pérignon Rosé matured for 13 years on the lees before being disgorged in March 2022 with a dosage of five grams per liter. A blend of 56% Pinot Noir and 44% Chardonnay, it derives from a warm year that yielded mature grapes, leading to Champagnes that are both robust and refined. Described as "generous and soft" by Vincent Chaperon, Dom Pérignon’s cellar master, the 2009 vintage began with a damp, rainy spring and transitioned into a hot, dry summer, setting the stage for a favorable harvest under excellent auspices.

With a 13% red wine addition, this is slightly less vinous than the 2006 (which saw 20%), yet still lays closer to this bold, sunny vintage than the nervier 2008 release. It’s a Dom Pérignon rosé in full stride today, showing a beautiful maturing Pinot Noir savour of dried strawberry and black tea starting to evolve over fresher notions of cooked citrus, mandarin and pomegranate. There’s a flowing ease here, the mousse ultra fine and the drama of the red Pinot Noir settled beautifully.

59% Pinot Noir (13% of which as red wine), 41% Chardonnay. Aged 12 years on lees. Dosage 5 g/l.
More orange than pink. Honey, caramel, wild raspberry which still has a fresh-picked tanginess to it. On the nose, the yeastiness is surprisingly subdued, but the palate comes through with bakery and brioche, especially on the long, toasty finish.

Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2009 is captivating with its intimate and caressing character.

    Season
    Superlative maturity
The beginning of winter was particularly rigorous in 2009. The Champagne region saw intermittent snowfall, and temperatures remained quite low. Spring was warm but rainy. The weather did not encourage flowering and there was a threat of mildew.
The summer, despite stormy periods that raised concerns that the health of the vines might suffer, was dominated by sunshine, especially in August. The weather remained hot, dry and very sunny for five consecutive weeks. On September 4 a hailstorm hit the vineyards in Hautvillers, Verzenay and Chouilly. The summery weather returned the very next day, however, and the grapes continued to ripen in complete serenity.
The harvest thus began on September 12 under absolutely idyllic conditions. The grapes showed exceptional health and their maturity, underlined by a wonderful aromatic expression, was superlative.

    The embodiment of fruit
Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2009 is captivating with its intimate and caressing character. A wine that is intensively alive, a true incarnation of the fruit of the harvest.

    Nose & palate
    Majesty, maturity and richness
After fleeting aromas of rose, orange oil and saffron, the bouquet becomes warmer, dominated by red fruit – raspberry and cherry – then somber touches of cassis and fig. Sweetness ultimately triumphs, with notes of gingerbread and licorice.

The fruit is majestic, ripe, fleshy and profound. After a markedly smooth and round initial mouthfeel, the wine nestles in the heart of the palate, settling with a sort of intimately intense caress. The power is contained, and the dominant impression is consistency. Sapid sensations converge and persist, leaving the memory of their tactile imprint.
