Vietti Nebbiolo Perbacco DOC 2022 750ml
Vietti Langhe Nebbiolo Perbacco 2022 is a polished, mid-weight Nebbiolo with rose and lilac aromatics, bright red fruit and firm, youthful structure. Sourced partly from top Barolo and Barbaresco sites, it offers Barolo-like intensity and depth in an approachable, earlier-drinking style.

Some fruit from Roncaglie goes into this wine, along with tidbits from other scattered Barolo vineyards. Aged for two years in large oak barrel, the Vietti 2022 Langhe Nebbiolo Perbacco is not too far off from tasting and smelling like a full-fledged Barbaresco, or even a Barolo for that matter, since it does technically have the DNA of both. The fruit is delivered with fresh, vertical intensity, and the wine's texture is firm and tensile. I like this vintage more than I thought I would.

Perbacco is Vietti’s gateway into its Nebbiolo wines, and includes lots from some of Barolo’s top MGAs that don’t make it into the estate’s classic Barolo, as well as a contributing element from Barbaresco. This 2022 highlights the grape’s floral side with fragrances of fresh cut rose and lilac. Midweight and built around forest berries, the palate sports ample density and backbone for this category. The tannins are a bit dry and compact at the moment but ultimately polished.
