Vietti Barbera d'Asti La Crena DOCG 2022 is a premium single-vineyard Barbera from the renowned La Crena vineyard in Agliano Terme, Piedmont. Crafted from 100% Barbera, this award-winning Italian red showcases the depth and structure that distinguish Barbera d'Asti, with ripe dark fruit, savoury complexity and vibrant acidity. Aged for 18 months in oak and stainless steel, the 2022 vintage delivers remarkable balance, richness and excellent ageing potential. The wine opens with concentrated aromas of ripe raspberry, red cherry and blackberry, layered with notes of dark chocolate, spice, vanilla, toast and earthy minerality. Full-bodied yet fresh, it offers plush fruit, refined oak integration and lively acidity, finishing long with impressive depth and elegance. This versatile Barbera pairs beautifully with hearty pasta dishes, roasted meats, game, rich poultry and aged cheeses.

This vineyard site has grown from the six original hectares of vines to 10 hectares today thanks to the recent acquisition of a neighboring parcel. With full southern exposures, the vines were planted in three installments, with the oldest planted in 1932.” The Vietti 2022 Barbera d'Asti La Crena offers earthy notes, dark fruit, bitter chocolate and spicy notes that are typical of the Asti area. The Alba area tends to be produce more sweet fruit-driven wines, whereas this wine is savory and root-driven. The vines are planted in loose, sandy soils with little water retention. Because the plants suffer more, you get more structural heft and darkness as a result. It works for me.

    Vivino | Vivino 4.1

Rich ruby purple color with concentrated ripe aromas of red raspberry and cherry with a touch of vanilla, toast and spice. On the richer side of Barbera with lush fruit, well balanced acidity, good integration of oak and a long lingering finish.

    Designation: Barbera d'Asti D.O.C.G.
    Grapes: 100% Barbera

Winemaking: The Crena vineyard is located near the village of Agliano Terme, in a south-facing exposure, with a total surface of about 6 hectares. The grapevines are planted, using the Guyot trellis system, at an average density of 4.800 plants.

The grapes were, after a short period of cold-maceration, fermented in stainless steel tanks for about two weeks. During this period a lot of mechanical punching downs, d?lestage and many open-air pumping overs have been executed. After this, the wine macerates for another week on its skins and is then racked to oak barrels for malolactic fermentation.

Aging: Barriques, big oak vats and steel tanks for approximately 18 months.

Description: Intense, deep ruby color. Pronounced concentrated aroma of ripe raspberry and red cherry fruit, combined with spicy and mineral notes and a touch of vanilla and toast. Full bodied on the palate, quite rich, with lush fruit that is well balanced with the acidity, good integration of oak and a long lingering aftertaste.

Food Pairings: Hearty stews, seasoned pasta and poultry with rich sauces, game, roasted red meats and hearty cheeses.
