Silverado Estate Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 is a beautifully balanced expression of Napa Valley, crafted exclusively from estate vineyards in Stags Leap District and Coombsville. Aged for 17 months in French oak, this elegant Cabernet Sauvignon combines ripe fruit, refined structure and classic Napa richness, offering immediate appeal while rewarding further cellaring.
The wine opens with aromas of ripe cherry, plum, cedar and dried herbs, complemented by subtle notes of sweet spice and toasted oak. The palate is medium to full-bodied with silky tannins, vibrant acidity and layers of dark fruit, finishing long, smooth and beautifully balanced. It pairs perfectly with grilled steaks, roast lamb, barbecue dishes and aged cheeses.

This is effusive and fruity, almost sweet in its ripeness and ready to drink soon. Sunny aromas of sweet cherries and strawberries lead to dark cherries and plums on the palate, backed by moderate tannins on a full body. Drink now.

There are more than 25,000 cases of the excellent 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Grown, a blend of fruit from the winery's Coombsville and Stags Leap District properties. Aged in 40% new oak (almost entirely French, although there is a small Hungarian component), it marries notes of cedar and dried spices with ripe cherries. It's medium to full-bodied, silky textured and open-knit, not hugely rich or concentrated, just a nice, balanced effort to drink over the next decade.

The most recent addition to Bill Foley's wine portfolio, Silverado Vineyards was purchased from the Disney family heirs in June 2022. It's a superbly situated property in Stags Leap District, but it also has estate vineyards in Yountville, Coombsville and off Soda Canyon Road, totaling approximately 320 acres. Current winemaker Alison Rodriguez is also a recent arrival. Following several years in wine sales across Europe, the Baton Rouge native attended Geisenheim to study winemaking, then worked at Sterling, Beringer and The Hess Collection before landing at Silverado on the first day of the 2022 crush.

"The personal journey in 2022 was, 'Where do I find freshness in this vintage?'" said Rodriguez. "The challenge was maintaining freshness across the palate and through the finish," she said. Like several winemakers I spoke with on this trip to Napa, she tried back-blending some 2023, but in her case, she said she didn't feel it worked. "There's no getting around it, there was just more to work with than in '22."

To illustrate, she poured a barrel sample of the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Limited, a six-barrel, 60–40 blend of Coombsville and Stags Leap fruit that probably won't be released until 2026. Intensely concentrated and tannic, it's impressive, with probably close to three decades of aging potential.

    Vivino | Vivino 4.2

Plum, spice, earth, dried herb and sweet oak aromas. Medium body with well-integrated fruit, spice and oak flavors. Balanced acidity and tannin give a long finish with flavors that linger.

In 1981, Ron and Dian Miller established Silverado Vineyards to make wine from the historic vineyards of their estate. Napa pioneers first planted these ranches to vines between 18965 and 1895. Each vineyard played an important role in establishing the reputation of its appellation: Carneros, Coomsville, Yountville and Stags Leap District. The beautiful fruit from these vineyards is the exclusive source of Silverado Vineyards' Estate and Single Vineyard wines - the Miller family's highest expression of the Napa Valley they love and admire. Generations of the Miller family hope you enjoy our Cabernet Sauvignon for many more years to come.

Perfectly ripe cherry and plum flavors and hints of apricot and toasted oak lead to a long finish.

    APPELLATION: Napa Valley

    VARIETAL: Cabernet Sauvignon

    Heritage
MT. GEORGE VINEYARD – Located east of Napa, Mt. George Vineyard is the site of one of the first grape plantings in the valley in the 19th century. Mt. George produces wines with intense fruit flavors, dark color, palate density, and classic structure.

SILVERADO VINEYARD – Silverado Vineyard is home to the namesake winery. It was on this site that Harry See planted Cabernet Sauvignon in 1968 that UC Davis later designated the Disney-Silverado Heritage Clone.

    Soils & Climate
The sloping, gravelly soils and sunny exposure of Silverado Vineyard pairs perfectly with western exposures to the late afternoon sun and Mt. George Vineyard’s cooler climate and deep volcanic soils provide depth and structure to these wines.
