Overture by Opus One Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 750ml

The debut vintage-dated release of Overture, and it’s a beauty. Packed with pure black fruit—think blackberries, plums, and cassis—layered with dried rose petals, forest floor, and a hint of chocolate. Silky smooth with a polished texture and soft, powdery tannins. The oak adds a touch of spice and creaminess, but never overshadows the fruit. Classic Napa elegance with a modern, approachable style.

Overture blends five traditional Bordeaux grape varieties and captures the terroir characteristics of each variety grown in different soils. Overture’s third blending aspect – that of marrying multiple vintages – yields a softer, rounder expression than Opus One estate that can be enjoyed upon release.

The first vintage-dated release of this cuvée, which has previously been a multi-vintage blend. 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot, 3% Merlot. Aged for 19.5 months in new French oak.
Delicious pure black fruit, there's a bit of a raisined element but fresh fruit too. Sweet oak vanilla and finely brushed tannin. The finish leaves oak and spice in charge.

Elegance and Complexity
Since 1993, Overture has been an expression of place across time. In keeping with an internal desire to underscore the importance of the growing season, Opus One has taken the necessary steps for Overture to become a vintage-dated wine. In doing so, Opus One intends to emphasize the diversity of our estate with a renewed focus.
The fruit is harvested and vinified with the same care, precision, and attention to detail as Opus One. Unique aromatics, flavors, and textures are recognized as ideal for Overture — more red fruit, herbal characteristics, soft tannins, and creamy texture.

Juicy and bright on the palate with distinctive flavors of black currant, blueberry, and fraises du bois; the wine delivers a velvety texture with powdery tannins.
