The nose is lifted and giving, with notes of wild blackberries, Szechuan pepper and graphite. The palate is medium-bodied with finely integrated tannins and focused acidity, showing brooding notes of blackcurrants, coffee beans, dried herbs and rose hips. A very focused and reduced wine that will evolve nicely. 100% whole-bunch fermentation. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Herby and meaty with lifted violet aromas and dark chocolate, edged with verdant whole-bunch notes. Incredibly long, incredibly complex. Silken and earthy and orchestral. Absolutely up there with the stars of the Syrah firmament. The quality of that meat, spice and black fruit is absolutely mesmerising. I've tasted plenty of great Aussie Shirazes, this is totally alongside them.

The Story: Flares (not guilty), pirate shirts (guilty as charged),shoulder pads (more Maree?s thing), they all look ridiculous 5 years after being the height of fashion. There is also fashion in wine, think big rich, sweet tannic Shiraz, or the current trend for early picked, lean and stemmy Syrah. The best wines must transcend fashion as they will be at their peak when the trend has long past.
