House of Arras Grand Vintage Rose 2015 750ml
A sophisticated Tasmanian sparkling rosé with remarkable depth and complexity from extended ageing. The 2015 vintage shows red berries, lychee and white peach alongside strawberry and cream, with more developed notes of mushroom, candle wax and oyster shell. Fine natural acidity, delicate effervescence and an elegant, savoury finish give this rosé impressive balance and length.

Striking aromas of tamarind chutney, ginger, turmeric and the Moroccan souk at large. Spicy and kaleidoscopic. This is an excellent fizz, delivering intensity of flavor and a precise, compact mid-palate endowed with just enough lees to creamy embellishment. Consummate poise, power and precision, with a modus of diaphanous acidity and striking delicacy in contrast. Excellent wine. Drink or hold.

The 2015 Methode Traditionelle Rose comprises 65% Pinot Noir and 35% Chardonnay. The wine aromatically leads with gentle spearmint and white strawberry, crushed rocks and even a hint of watermelon and Boscobel rose (raspberry leaf tea too). The wine spent seven years on the lees, and it is convincingly plump and pillowy in the mouth, like all the wines here today have been. There is shaved fennel, roasted hazelnuts and a gentle persuasion of smokiness in the background that I quite like (it reminds me of walking past Paris street vendors with the nuts in the carts), plus a hint of honey biscuit and fresh sea spray. Excellent. The 2015 vintage seems quite powerful and almost rambunctious but with lovely acid. Very good indeed. 12.5% alcohol, sealed under cork.

A very subtle rose-gold hue with an ultra-fine and persistent bead.

Lifted aromas of potpourri, red berries, yoghurt, and Pink Lady apple.

An initial rush of the classic Rosé flavours of maraschino cherry, Turkish Delight and stone fruits complemented by aged secondary characters of sourdough and field mushroom. An elegantly dry palate with an exquisite balance of fruit, sugar, tannin and acidity.
