This may be Merlot-dominant, but the two Cab varieties make their mark via savory herbs and spice, graphite and toasted dark chocolate. There's plenty of appealing dark cherry and blackberry fruit notes here, too. A lovely lift of acidity, fine, savory tannins, violets and and tangy blue and blackberry fruit linger to a long finish. Earth and herbal notes are bold and firm, with elements of dried porcini mushroom, loam and rosemary, plus bay accents that complement the spiced plum, date and wild blackberry flavors. Legend has it that this mist was used to protect a mythical Maori maiden from the sun as she visited her lover Te Mata.
