Chateau Trotanoy Pomerol *ETA Q3, 2028 En-Primeur* 2025 750ml
SKU: RDFR20250017
Château Trotanoy 2025 is a powerful and structured Pomerol from the Jean-Pierre Moueix portfolio, crafted from 96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc. It reveals expressive aromas of blackberries, plums, violets, and subtle spice, with hints of blood orange and dark fruit complexity. The palate is dense, muscular, and tightly focused, showing firm tannins, vibrant energy, and impressive depth. Despite its intensity, the wine remains balanced and precise, finishing long with mineral drive and savory nuance. A serious, age-worthy Pomerol built for long-term cellaring.

Blueberry, raspberry, blood orange and lavender aromas follow through to a medium body with an intense and energized center palate that gives superb definition and vivid, tight fruit and tannins at the end. 96% merlot and 4% cabernet franc.

The most powerful wine in the Mouiex cellars this year is the 2025 Trotanoy. Offering up aromas of ripe black fruits, fruitcake and spices, framed by a deft touch of new oak, it's full-bodied, layered and muscular, with plenty of ripe tannin and sweet fruit but good underlying energy, too. This will require some patience.

Clean and fresh aromatics – perfumed black fruit. Chewy and ripe, broad and filling but juicy and charming at the same time. It’s quite pent up, definitely coiled and knitted down but there’s such an appealing softness to this expression – definitely not overextacted but harnessing the ripeness of the fruit and delivering an intense, concentrated wine without the density or plushness of a hot vintage. Plums, blackcurrants and cherries, wet stones, oyster shell and a salty liquorice finish. Yum. Captivating.

96% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc. Cask sample.
Dense but fresh with dark-fruit (blackcurrant) aroma and flavour. Supple attack but a powerful wine with firm, upright tannins that’s just beginning to come together. (JL)
Winemaker
Purchased by Jean-Pierre Moueix in 1953, Chateau Trotanoy has been considered one of the premier crus of Pomerol since the end of the eighteenth century. The soil of Ch?teau Trotanoy is a very dense mixture of clay and gravel which tends to solidify as it dries out after rain to an almost concrete-like hardness, hence the name 'Trotanoy,' or, in other words, 'too wearisome' to cultivate.
The Trotanoy vineyard slopes gently to the west. The soil at the highest point of exposure contains a good proportion of gravel, becoming progressively more dominated by clay as the elevation declines. Under this clay is a subsoil of red gravel and an impermeable layer of hard, iron-rich soil known as crasse de fer. This fascinating soil diversity brings power, depth and complexity to the wine. Trotanoy is vinified in small concrete vats, while aging takes place in oak barrels.
Trotanoy is a naturally profound, complex, richly-concentrated wine with outstanding aging potential. The wine possesses a deep color and a dense, powerful nose, repeated on the palate with the addition of creamy, dark chocolate notes, and a singular concentration of flavor owed to its very old vines.
