Chateau Troplong Mondot St-Emilion *ETA Q3, 2028 En Primeur* 2025 750ml
SKU: RDFR20250045
Château Troplong Mondot 2025 is one of the standout wines of the vintage, showcasing the estate’s remarkable balance of power, elegance, and mineral precision. A blend of 85% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2% Cabernet Franc, it offers an intense bouquet of blackberry, plum, violet, licorice, dark chocolate, and delicate spice, supported by vibrant acidity and beautifully refined tannins. Perched on the highest point of Saint-Émilion, Troplong Mondot’s unique limestone and clay terroir gives the wine its distinctive freshness and depth. The 2025 vintage combines impressive concentration with a silky, crystalline texture and a long, saline finish, revealing a more restrained and elegant expression of the estate.

Picked between August 28 and September 25 (surely one of the broadest ranges in Bordeaux this year, but logical considering the estate's different altitudes and aspects), the 2025 Troplong Mondot is one of the wines of the vintage. Exhibiting a deep bouquet of blackberries and plums complemented by floral accents of lilac, iris and subtle spices, it's full-bodied, deep and dense, with a brooding core of fruit girdled by bright acids and sweet but abundant tannins. A blend of 85% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc, it will rival the 2022, though in vintage signature the two years are very different.

A very structured wine with blackberry, hazelnut, dark chocolate, violet and some black licorice aromas. Full-bodied but in a reserved way, with super framing of the fine tannins. Elegant and structured. Fun to taste. 13.9% alcohol. 85% merlot, 13% cabernet sauvignon and 2% cabernet sauvignon.

Lovely rose petal fragrance on the nose, floral and expressive with some dried herbs, dark bramble fruit and licks of liquorice. Round and sleek at the same time with a gorgeous texture and energy from the start. Chewy but so delicate, a soft grip and cushioning of the juicy, mouthwatering yet cool red berry fruit and really crystalline salty-edged tannins. I love the gentle frame here, so different to 2022 but so pleasurable. There’s density for sure but you just don’t feel any heaviness or overt muscle. Silky, grippy with a salty bite and fresh finish. Almost understated from Troplong – full of juicy acidity and supportive tannins. I feel this will fill out over ageing. Director Aymeric de Gironde said 2025 is: ‘A mix of 2022 intensity and 2023 brightness but more mineral.’ 3.43pH. Overall yield of 27hl/ha. Ageing 50% new oak, 40% foudre, and10% one-year-old barrels with the goal of moving towards more foudre in future.

So as to understand Troplong Mondot one needs to leave behind categories and descriptions.
Troplong Mondot cannot be explained: It needs to be lived.
Appreciating an atmosphere or a setting and nourishing oneself from it, both literally and metaphorically, means finding one’s place in a world that one takes with oneself. A world like no other.
Settled upon its hilltop, the Château discretely dominates an unusual ‘terroir’, quite unlike any other.
On the one side, soft wave-like sweeping hills. On the other, the valley and the village of Saint-Emilion, stretching out under our feet. And all around, vines, bushes, hedges, lanes and low stone walls.
TROPLONG MONDOT IS LIKE A WORLD OF ITS OWN.
All of these elements make a world of Troplong Mondot.
A UNIQUE UNIVERSE, A TRUE GIFT OF NATURE.
The preservation of this biodiversity is both an ancient and a present concern. Taking care of nature is installed in Troplong Mondot’s philosophy, essential for bringing out its best.
TROPLONG MONDOT’S SPIRIT CAN BE FOUND IN THE WINE.
In the complexity of its judiciously assembled tiny variations. In the power that tempers the elegance. In the reminder of a shared moment or a touching souvenir. Here, the sensation felt when tasting gives feeling of fulfilment. The impression that one has always belonged here, that one recognises it and has found one’s place.
