Chateau Talbot St-Julien 1999 1500ml
SKU: RDFR19992641
Château Talbot Saint-Julien 1999 in 1500ml is a beautifully mature Bordeaux from one of Saint-Julien’s most respected estates. With nearly three decades of bottle age, this classic vintage offers an enticing mix of ripe blackcurrant, plum, cedar, tobacco and earthy nuances, supported by softened tannins and elegant freshness. The magnum format is particularly prized for its slower, more graceful evolution, making this a sophisticated choice for collectors and special occasions.

An impressive effort for the vintage, this is an opulent, velvety-textured 1999 that comes across as a hypothetical blend of a Pomerol and Burgundy. Notes of earth, blackberries, spice box, and herbs compete for the taster's attention. Dense, nearly unctuous, and extremely ripe, with low acidity that adds to the textural fatness and richness, it will be delicious upon release, and last for 15-16+ years.

Very grapey aromas, with hints of licorice and berries. Medium- to full-bodied, with good tannins and a fresh, fruity aftertaste. Best from 2003 through 2006.

Mid-crimson. Lively. Easy. Racy. No compromises. The opposite of dense and thick, but with great balance. Jancis Robinson

It’s true, Talbot is a champion of longevity, which doesn’t prevent it from being amiable and round even in its earliest youth, always marked by silky, smooth, very civilized tannins. Talbot is outgoing by nature, never inward-looking. It’s a racy wine, with complex notes of Havana and licorice, deliciously classic without the slightest hint of austerity.
