A classic Margaux from a warm vintage, Château Prieuré-Lichine 2009 showcases the appellation's signature elegance while offering generous ripe fruit and refined structure. Layers of blackberry, plum and subtle floral notes are complemented by hints of graphite, tobacco and gentle spice. Velvety tannins and balanced acidity provide both immediate appeal and the ability to develop further in bottle, making it an excellent choice for Bordeaux enthusiasts seeking a wine that combines finesse, complexity and ageing potential.

90-92 Barrel sample. A perfumed wine, floral and flowery. The spices come from wood tannins that are very present. But there are also friendly berry fruits, plum skins and final acidity. — Roger Voss

Tasted ex-chateau and single blind in Southwold. The Prieure-Lichine has an earthy, undergrowth-scented bouquet with touches of graphite and wet tobacco all with fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with a salty tang on the entry. Good fruit intensity, slightly aggressive tannins at this stage, although it should mellow with bottle age. Very fine with touches of game on the conservative finish. It deserves 5-8 years in the cellar. Tasted January 2012.

A glossy crimson-black hue, with the aromas of blackberry. A soft creamed-fruit substance on the palate, with lots of ripe, supple, velvety tannins and a good core of acidity. Rich, substantial, with a firm grippy finish.
