Sweet-berry aromas with hints of chocolate and hazelnut follow through to a medium body with firm, fine tannins and a juicy, polished and fruity finish. Nicely integrated all the way through. Try after 2024.

Strawberry, sweet cherry, almost smells like cherry sweets on the nose. Dark fruit on the palate though, quite plummy which I like. Good density and smooth, gently caressing tannins. There's clearly power and structure but it's well presented with drive. Touch of perfume to the fruit on the palate too. Chewy tannins give a good mouthful with plenty of interest and cooling mint on the finish.

The 2019 La Fleur de Boüard sports a deep garnet-purple color and offers bold scents of baked blackberries, crushed black cherries and warm black plums with hints of lavender, dark chocolate, aniseed and incense. Medium-bodied, the palate is chock-full of crunchy black fruit with a plush texture and loads of freshness, finishing with a spicy kick.

Beautifully generous and fleshy on the nose with plum and black-cherry jam. There’s a sweetness to the fruit that could easily be mistaken for wine that comes from a warm, New World place – not least because the tannins are sculpted and the acid is moderate. Modern and generous right-bank bordeaux, not much maturity yet, although the supercharged fruit power should have longevity. Richard Hemming MW
