Chateau Gruaud Larose St-Julien *ETA Q3, 2028 En Primeur* 2025 750ml
SKU: RDFR20250009
Château Gruaud Larose 2025 En Primeur 750ml is a finely tuned and expressive Saint-Julien Grand Cru Classé that captures both elegance and precision in a highly energetic vintage. Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and Cabernet Franc, it opens with lifted aromas of blackcurrant, cassis, violets, jasmine, lavender, tobacco, and subtle spice, layered with graphite and mineral undertones. Medium- to full-bodied, the palate is supple yet structured, combining juicy red and dark fruit with finely grained tannins and vibrant acidity. The wine shows remarkable tension and finesse, balancing concentration with freshness and a long, persistent, mineral-driven finish. Marking the estate’s 300th anniversary, this 2025 vintage reflects both heritage and refinement, with excellent ageing potential through 2050.

Lots of great energy, with a precision and focus that sends you down the road to gorgeous dark fruits and mineral nuances. A cool, minty note. Medium- to full-bodied. Racy and intense, with a lightness at the end. Juicy fruit, too. A blend of 66% cabernet sauvignon, 28% merlot, 3% cabernet franc and 3% petit verdot.

Unwinding in the glass with notes of dark berries, cassis, plums mingled with hints of violet and pencil shavings, the 2025 Gruaud Larose is medium- to full-bodied, supple and suave, with a deep core of fruit, lovely energy and ripe, powdery tannins. Checking in at 13.5% alcohol, this blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc will bear a special gold label to commemorate the estate's 300th anniversary.

Such scented notes on the nose, more like a sultry summer’s evening with jasmine, lavender, violets, peonies and deep, heady blackcurrants alongside tobacco, liquorice and clove. Supple and so wonderfully textured – grippy but finely placed with an almost crushed stone aspect but this really holds the juiciness such a long time – strawberry and raspberry, crunchy cranberry, with a persistence and energetic finish. What a wine. Silky, almost a delicate touch here where there’s such precision yet still at the same time there’s concentration and intensity. 11% press wine (all from Cabernet). 3.71pH. A yield of 26hl/ha. 50% grand vin production.

300th anniversary of the estate. 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc. 26 hl/ha. Certified organic. Cask sample.
Dark fruit with a floral note. Round and smooth on the palate with an abundance of tannin behind. Not dramatic but very St-Julien. (JL)
