    Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot

Crafted from an exceptional vintage, the 2016 Château Giscours captures the elegance and structure that define great Margaux. With 81% Cabernet Sauvignon and 19% Merlot, this wine opens with fragrant red plum, licorice, and cedar notes, underpinned by stony minerality and floral lift. On the palate, it's poised and graceful—silky yet firmly built, with finely grained tannins and vibrant acidity ensuring a long, fresh finish.

This has attractive, glossy, ripe red-plum and licorice aromas with cedar, flowers and red berries, as well as a stony edge. A very fragrant, cabernet-driven nose. The palate has elegance and grace with sleek and charming, balanced style and a discreet tannin structure that holds the finish long and fresh. A blend of 81 per cent cabernet sauvignon and 19 per cent merlot. Try from 2023.

Concentrated autumnal fruit offers a hawthorny bramble of blackberry and bilberry. Big-framed, muscular tannins are joined by plenty of acidity - it's very clearly built to last and confident in its ability to reward those with patience. Matured in 50% new oak. Axel Marchal and Valerie Lavigne consult.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Giscours gives up aromas of cassis, chocolate, earth, tar, pepper and hoisin with touches of flowers and a meaty nuance. The palate is medium to full-bodied, firm and grainy with a great core and a long finish.

Deep, shaded crimson. Real complexity on the nose. Then a chunky, solid, dry finish. There’s a lot packed into this but it’s not quite ready. There’s just a hint of sourness on the end. Still pretty chewy.

    Giscours.com

Château Giscours, a Grand Cru Classé in 1855, is a wine with a big personality that expresses the expertise of our teams and the full wealth of our terroir in the Margaux appellation.
Château Giscours is an elegant, well-structured wine with magnificently bright aromas. It is a wine that develops wonderfully over time, the enjoyment of which is passed down from generation to generation.

    A great Margaux
Château Giscours 2016 has all the qualities of a great Margaux

The year 2016 saw ideal climatic conditions for producing a great wine: a temperate spring that allowed the vines to develop well, followed by a dry summer with moderate temperatures. Each fruit was harvested at the right time, having reached optimal ripeness.

Château Giscours 2016 is an elegant, balanced wine, with two great qualities that we particularly appreciate at Giscours: aromatic brilliance and great finesse of tannins.
