Chateau Duhart Milon Domains Barons de Rothschild Pauillac 2022 750ml
SKU: RDFR20220017
Château Duhart-Milon 2022 is one of the finest vintages ever produced by this esteemed Fourth Growth estate in Pauillac. Owned by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite), the wine reflects the elegance, precision and refinement that define the property's gravelly terroir, located adjacent to Château Lafite Rothschild. Crafted from 78% Cabernet Sauvignon and 22% Merlot, the 2022 vintage combines remarkable concentration with exceptional freshness, delivering a wine of depth, balance and impressive ageing potential.
The bouquet opens with vibrant aromas of blackcurrant, mulberry, rose petals and cedar, layered with notes of pencil shavings, tobacco, cigar box and subtle spice. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with silky, velvety tannins supporting rich cassis and dark berry flavours. Bright acidity and mineral precision bring energy and lift, while hints of graphite, herbs and dark chocolate add further complexity. The finish is long, polished and beautifully structured, promising decades of graceful evolution.

The tension here comes from chalky tannins and lovely tobacco, herbs, cedar and cigar-box character. Currants and blue fruits. It's medium-bodied with lovely fruit and light-citrus bitterness. Firm and intense with an excellent finish. One of the best Duharts I have tasted. Try after 2028.

Drink: 2027-2050
The 2022 Duhart-Milon is showing beautifully, bursting from the glass with aromas of mulberries, blackcurrants, pencil shavings and rose petal. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and textural, it's sweet and layered, with a gourmand core of fruit underpinned by powdery tannins and lively acids. A decade ago, Duhart could be a somewhat austere wine, but today it's much more integrated and harmonious. The 2022 is a blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon and 22% Merlot.

A structured wine that has ripe tannins and powerful dark chocolate flavors. The wine has a licorice aroma and fine layers of black plums and succulent acidity. Drink from 2028. — Roger Voss

Dark with good concentration, and the nose has a tightly defined fruit character, reticent rather than open, with a light sprinkle of chalk over some floral, black fruits. The palate has a very polished style, with a shell of fruit sitting around a core of very firm tannins which, although a strong component of the blend, do not over-ride the other elements.

Location
Pauillac is located on the left bank of the Gironde estuary, approximately 40km north of Bordeaux. With the tempering influence of the estuary and a great diversity of soils originating from both the Massif Central and the Pyrenees, Pauillac boasts exceptional climate and geological conditions for the production of outstanding wines.
Terroir
Château Duhart-Milon’s vineyard consists of a single block of vines adjacent to Château Lafite Rothschild, on the hillside to the west of the Carruades plateau. The property has 76 hectares of vines. The soil consists of fine gravel mixed with aeolian sand on a tertiary limestone.
Winemaking
Château Duhart-Milon is made according to traditional Bordeaux methods. The grapes are carefully sorted and placed in concrete or stainless-steel vats depending on their provenance for alcoholic fermentation. Gentle pumping over is carried out during fermentation to optimize extraction. Total maceration time is about 20 days before racking. Following this rigorous selection, the wine is blended and transferred to oak barrels (50% new).
Once the wines have undergone malolactic fermentation, they are transferred to French oak barrels made by the Tonnellerie des Domaines in Pauillac. Each barrel is tasted individually in December in order to determine which ones will be selected for the grand vin.
