Drink: 2025-2040
From 25-year-old vines in Tournon, the 2020 Saint Joseph Domaine de la Croix des Vignes features scents of crushed stone, cassis and blackberries. It's full-bodied but restrained, almost austere, without being hard or unwelcoming, then finishes long and silky. This could use some time, but it looks to be a beauty and one of the better values among the Jaboulet lineup.

This youthful St.-Joseph is very stony, smoky and dusty in a positive sense and needs some aeration to show its true class. Austere and flinty on the focused, medium-bodied palate. Some graphite, too. Expresses the special personality of this appellation extremely well, and the very long finish has been beautifully crafted. Mostly from vineyards above Tournon, the rest above Mauves, all with stony granitic soil. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

This estate derives its name from the cross planted at the top of the vineyard, overlooking the plots of Saint-Joseph. Fine and delicate, this wine was already being sold in the 16th century and was appreciated at the table of the French kings. Between 1956 and 1969, the vineyards were consolidated and granted AOC of Saint-Joseph.
2022 TASTING NOTE
Deep ruby-red colour. The nose is elegant, the bouquet dominated by floral notes of violet and peony. Notes of ageing appear later. Smooth and well-balanced on the palate, the wine retains a lovely freshness that reinforces its elegance on the finish and enhances its minerality and depth.
