Trimbach Riesling Cuvee Frederic Emile 2013 1500ml

The 2013 Trimbach Cuvée Frédéric Émile is a serious, elegant Riesling made from low-yielding, old vines in the Grand Crus of Geisberg and Osterberg. It shows a beautiful blend of spice, mineral, and dried fruit aromas, with hints of pear and dried apple adding complexity. On the palate, it’s full-bodied and layered, with a powerful core of ripe tropical fruit and a chalky, saline minerality that gives it great depth and structure. The acidity is firm but ripe, making it fresh and balanced, and the finish is long and mineral-driven. This is a benchmark Alsace Riesling that’s perfect for cellaring and will reward patience for years to come.

From the south and south-east facing Ribeauville grands crus Geisberg and Osterberg with low-yielding vines averaging 45 years old, the 2013 Riesling Cuvee Frederic Emile displays a deep, complex and very elegant bouquet of ripe, rather tropical fruit aromas along with some floral flavors. Full-bodied, juicy, round and elegant on the palate, this mineral-laced and well-structured wine indicates a firm but ripe acidity and a lingering salinity as well as an impressively pure and mineral length. Powerful and with great aging potential. In the market is still the 2009 vintage whereas the earliest date of release of the 2013 is 2018.

The south and south-east facing Ribeauville terroirs and Grand Crus of Geisberg and Osterberg which overlook the winery have been producing this wine for several generations. Not mentioning the Grand Cru on the label was our choice back in the 70?s. Today, CFE is considered a benchmark of Grand Crus Riesling even though the labels does not say the names of the vineyards. It is our Signature wine. The average age of the vines, 45 years, results in limited yields. The marl-limestone-sandstone and fossil-flecked Muschelkalk composition of the terroir, as well as the beautifully ripe grapes selected and harvested at the end of October lend this wine a remarkable personality: a dry and powerful Riesling, underlined by a mineral note and firm ripe acidity. This wine is named for Frederic Emile who became famous for providing a new guarantee of quality and authenticity for Trimbach in 1898. The prestigious signature wine of the house, the ?Cuvee Frederic Emile? is highly prized by connoisseurs and collectors. Pair with: gourmet foods, quality fish, caviar, and fine white meats. Ageing potential: the great 'Cuvee Frederic Emile' vintages age for twenty years and longer.
