Dr Loosen Erdener Treppchen Riesling Spatlese 2022 750ml
Dr Loosen Erdener Treppchen Riesling Spätlese 2022 is a rich, medium-bodied Mosel Riesling with ripe pear, blood orange, and candied ginger notes, balanced by vibrant acidity and a subtle off-dry sweetness. Sourced from 60-year-old ungrafted vines in the red slate soils of Erdener Treppchen, it shows remarkable concentration, spiciness, and minerality, with a long, zesty finish. Fermented in stainless steel and traditional Fuder casks, this Spätlese offers both immediate pleasure and excellent aging potential.

I love the interplay of ripe and slightly caramelized pear fruit with spicy complexity in this ripe yet lively Mosel Spatlese. The vibrant blood orange character easily balances the natural grape sweetness on the ample palate. Long zesty finish that’s barely off-dry. Drink or hold.

A spicy Spätlese from Erdener Treppchen vineyard is gorgeous and complete. The iron-infused, red slate soil produces wines with oomph and complexity. Juicy pear fruits, ginger, and white pepper mingle with white florals. The wine is rich and loaded with flavours of tangy lemon, ripe orange pulp, and candied ginger.

Aromas of apple, spices and smoke. Theis sense of freshness carries over onto the lean and zesty palate.

Explosive fruit and an expansive texture from the oldest parcel of the Treppchen vineyard, a windy site that inhibits botrytis, allowing for very long hang time and exceptional flavor development. Only one 1,000-liter Fuder cask is produced.
DR. LOOSEN ESTATE
The Dr. Loosen estate has been in the same family for over 200 years. When Ernst Loosen assumed ownership in 1988, he realized that he had vines in some of Germany's best-rated vineyards. To maximize the potential of those vines, he dramatically limits crop size, uses only organic fertilization, insists on very strict fruit selection, and employs gentle cellar practices with a minimum of handling.
THE MOSEL REGION
Located in far western Germany, the Mosel valley's steep, southfacing slopes create the perfect climate for Riesling, giving the vines ideal exposure to the sun. The cool climate allows the grapes to ripen slowly while retaining bright acidity.
ERDENER TREPPCHEN RIESLING SPATLESE
The Spatlese designation means that the grapes get an extra week or two of hang time, which helps them develop higher ripeness and deeper flavors. The Erdener Treppchen Sp?tlese is a fruit-driven Riesling that combines extraordinary concentration and length with bracing minerality.
