Luce Della Vite 2020 750ml

A bold and expressive Super Tuscan from the heart of Montalcino, the 2020 Luce brings together the richness of Merlot and the structure of Sangiovese in perfect harmony. This vintage offers deep, dark cherry fruit layered with notes of vanilla, garden herbs, and warm spices. Its creamy texture and vibrant acidity make it both powerful and refined, with firm tannins that promise excellent aging potential. Crafted by the Frescobaldi family, Luce continues to embody innovation and tradition—an elegant, full-bodied red that stands out on any table.

Aromas of garden herbs and tobacco are subtle for the time being. Dark fleshy cherry suffuses the palate, and its creamy texture and vanilla finale are countered by tangy acidity. It's already approachable overall, although the tannins could do with a bit more time to integrate. Lamberto Frescobaldi describes the 2020 vintage as straightforward and balanced without significant heat spikes. And indeed, Luce captures the suave, almost carefree character of the vintage.

A blend of equal parts of Sangiovese and Merlot (in a heavy glass bottle), the Tenuta Luce 2020 Luce della Vite is sweet, chewy and oak-driven with a very toasted quality that includes cinnamon, fennel seed, roasted eggplant and dried pomegranate. There is a sweet note as well with exotic rose apple. The wine offers lots of volume and fruit fiber in this hot vintage and it makes a big impact on the palate. Likewise, the tannins hit hard. This is an in-your-face wine with a release of 100,000 bottles.

Lustrous mid ruby. Concentrated pure cherry with notes of exotic spice and cardamom. Polished and juicy with a eucalyptus note on the finish. Very long. International polish and with plenty of acidity and crunchy tannins which will allow it to age gracefully.

Luce was the first wine from Montalcino made by blending Sangiovese and Merlot grapes. It was thanks to the collaboration of the Marchesi del Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi Families that came the idea of matching the roundness and softness of Merlot with the elegance and structure of Sangiovese in the land of Brunello di Montalcino, the worldwide famous Italian wine made strictly from Sangiovese grapes.
Since 2002, Lamberto Frescobaldi is completely responsible for this project. In the land of Brunello di Montalcino he continues to write the history of Luce, a Super Tuscan wine appreciated all around the world. In his work, he continues to unite the tradition of Sangiovese, a typical local grape variety, with the innovation of Merlot, first introduced in Montalcino in the Seventies.
