The 2023 Yesterday's Hero Grenache is lithe and spicy, with sweet tobacco, clove, raspberry pip, blood orange and wild strawberry. The wine is balanced and exciting, with threads of saline acidity woven throughout, allowing the inherent perfume of Blewitt Springs to rise to the fore. I note that the last time this wine was reviewed was the 2011, and the fruit was sourced from Barossa. The switch to McLaren Vale makes ultimate sense to me, and this is a magnificent expression. Highly recommended. 14.4% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

We've decided to dust off our old Yesterday?s Hero label which hasn't been seen since 2011, and make a 100% Grenache for The Picture Series again. 
Which way over delivers in every way.

Yesterday's Hero is a reference to my favourite John Paul Young song, which I blared from my bright yellow Sigma back in the day, it always made me smile. The reference here is to Grenache being used as the back bone to so many great bottlings in the 60's and 70's but rarely receiving any credit until now! The boxing gloves are to show a boxer after a fight, who has had enough and maybe can?t find the energy to go on. He was once a gloried boxer but today, he is just Yesterday's Hero.? ? MT
