Domaine Rebourgeon-Mure Volnay Santenots Premier Cru 2023 750ml
SKU: RDFR20230062
Domaine Rebourgeon-Mure’s 2023 Volnay Santenots Premier Cru is a beautifully poised Burgundy red from vines planted in 1954 on red limestone, gravel and clay soils. Bright and vibrant, it opens with an inviting, sun-warmed bouquet before revealing lush strawberry fruit, supple texture and fine, youthful tannins. Powerful yet elegant, this distinctive Santenots combines the richness and concentration of the Côte de Nuits with the finesse associated with Volnay, with excellent potential for further development in bottle.

1960s planting. A bright vibrant purple. Attractive, with a very supple sun warmed bouquet. The charm continues on the palate, with lush strawberries, and a little dry tannin, but this will all come together soon to make an attractive Santenots. Drink from 2030-2035. Tasted Nov 2024. Tasted by: Jasper Morris MW.

The Volnay Santenots has the distinction of being harvested in Meursault, which it borders.
For about two hundred years, the custom arose of calling the great red wines harvested on this land Volnay Santenots.
"Firm, full-bodied, beautifully coloured, rich in alcohol and bouquet, straightforward in taste and with good aging potential, this powerful nectar, which possesses a remarkable personality, seems to combine all the richness of the great wines of the Côte de Nuits with the finesse of the Volnays it borders." wrote Camille Rodier, in his book Les Grands Vins de Bourgogne in 1931.
This vine was planted in 1954 on red limestone soils, interspersed with gravel and clay.
It produces a powerful, concentrated and elegant first vintage, which is generally not afraid of long aging.
