Bouchard Pere & Fils Meursault-Perrieres Premier Cru 2018

Bouchard Pere & Fils Meursault-Perrieres Premier Cru 2018

$149.00

The 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrieres is showing very nicely from bottle, offering up a youthful but already expressive bouquet of citrus oil, pear, blanched almonds, pastry cream and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, racy and incisive, it’s elegantly textural, with fine concentration, tangy acids, and a precise, mineral finish. While this Perri?res is already deceptively charming, if it gains in depth and complexity with bottle age as much as I suspect it will, this score may seem conservative.

It is the stony ground to which the vine clings that has given rise to the name of this exceptional "Climat": "Perrieres". This Premier Cru has been renowned for its finesse and pureness for many years: in the mid 19th century, the wine maker, M. de Vergnette stated in one of his works that "Apart from the true Montrachets, I know of no other white wine so exquisite". Later, Dr. Lavalle mentioned it as "Tete de cuvee" in his 1855 rating.
