The 2016 Daugay is composed of 70% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Franc and 7% Cabernet Sauvignon. It has a medium to deep garnet-purple color and comes bounding out of the glass with exuberant chocolate-covered cherries, mulberries, black raspberries and preserved plums scents with suggestions of wild thyme, menthol, mocha and baking spices. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is laden with vibrant red and black fruits, supported by firm, finely grained tannins and a lively line, finishing long.

A St.-Emilion showing lots of decadent character with dusty earth highlighting the ripe, plummy fruit. Full body, firm and chewy tannins, yet agile and energetic. Needs four or five years to come together. Try after 2023.
