Trimbach Grand Cru Mandelberg Riesling 2020 750ml

The 2020 Trimbach Grand Cru Mandelberg Riesling (formerly known as Cuvée M) is a beautifully refined and powerful wine. Grown on limestone and marl soils from old vines in a very unique, sun-drenched vineyard, it shows ripe peach and almond notes with a touch of melted butter. Despite its richness and concentration, the wine remains razor-sharp and dry, with a striking mineral backbone and a long, intense finish. It’s approachable now but promises even greater complexity and depth with a few years in the cellar — definitely one to watch for serious Riesling lovers.

Very enticing nose of ripe peaches and fresh almonds with just a hint of melted butter. Impressive concentration and richness, but so straight and dry, this emphasizing the wine's intense mineral side. That, in turn, underlines the emphatic dryness of the very long finish. Drinkable now, but best from 2025.

The 2020 Grand Cru Mandelberg Riesling has been sold as Alsace Grand Cru since the 2016 vintage and might still be better known as Cuvée M. Cultivated on marl-limestone soils, the 2020 shows a very clear, elegant, refined and fresh, limestone-driven nose of ripe and concentrated fruits. Supple, round and elegant, this is a complex and full-bodied, pretty expressive wine that finishes with power, salinity, intensity and fine tannin bitters. Less than one gram of residual sugar but 14.2% stated alcohol. Tasted at the domaine in May 2022.

Formerly produced under the name Cuvée M, this wine is now called Grand Cru Mandelberg since the 2016 vintage.
It has always come from the Grand Cru Mandelberg in Mittelwihr, on our hectare of old vines over 60 years old with limestone and stony soil, in particular rolled pebbles, as well as marl-limestone.
Early soil, hot, very sloping, little soil and facing South-SE.
One of the only 3 Grands Crus of Alsace not to be leaned against the sub-Vosges hills, with less shade and freshness coming from the valley and the forest.
Aging potential : 10-15 years.
