Ruinart Champagne Blanc De Blancs Second Skin NV 750ml

Ruinart’s Blanc de Blancs is a fresh and elegant Champagne that really lets Chardonnay shine. It opens with delicate floral aromas and bright citrus notes like lemon oil and grapefruit, backed by subtle spice and stone fruit hints. On the palate, it’s smooth and balanced, with a lovely creamy texture and a refreshing, mineral-driven finish. This medium-bodied bubbly is enjoyable now but has enough structure to develop beautifully over the next several years.

The first scents of Ruinart’s NV Blanc de Blancs are floral in character, accompanied by aromas of lemon oil, spices and citrus blossoms. It’s medium-bodied and perfectly balanced on the palate, with a round, seamless texture that segues into a mouthwatering, ethereal finish. It should age well for five to eight years.

A very appealing style that captures the elegance of chardonnay in a way that is still immensely satisfying. The aromas are all based around lemon, grapefruit, fresh floral notes and stone fruits. The palate delivers a ripe impression, flavorsome and full, with peach custard and lemon brulée. Acidity is nicely placed below. Drink now.

This blanc de blancs (100% Chardonnay) is sourced mostly from the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims, including a portion of premier cru vineyards. It has a lean, lemon and apple bite backed up by some smooth creaminess. It's fuller in body than stablemate Veuve Clicquot, displaying good acidity and power. Dosage 9g/l.

Not much nose. Elderflower blossom. A touch of lemon curd. Big bubbles that are a bit too mouth-fillingly foamy – bubble-bath-like. Lemon zest, lemon pith and bay leaf and something a little metallic. And coconut, which is something I want to taste in a pina colada, not champagne. At first it tastes drier and sharper than the Moët Grande Vintage 2015 next to it, then it quickly becomes loose, sweet and unformed. Pleasant, but just not that exciting. A bit flat. At this price, I'd turn away and look for a grower champagne. I wonder if Ruinart concentrate their efforts on the vintage BdB?

THE EMBLEM OF GOUT RUINART
The Chardonnay grape is the soul of Maison Ruinart. Its grape, mainly from the Cote des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims, is at the heart of all its cuvees.
ASSEMBLY
100% Chardonnay from different years (20 to 25% reserve wines from the 2 previous years).
ORIGIN
A very large majority of Premiers Crus from the Cote des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims for the aromatic finesse, completed by wines from Sezannais known to bring roundness. Finally, some wines from the north of the Vesle valley bring a touch of freshness and lightness.
TASTING NOTES
A first nose of great intensity, with notes of fresh fruit, in particular ripe citrus. A second very fine and floral nose with notes of white flowers and white fruits (white peach). A supple, harmonious attack on the palate, a lot of roundness.
A vinosity without excess, supported by a superb freshness. Notes of nectar, citrus, and a nice minerality on the finish. A fairly long and very refreshing finish.
Beautiful pale golden yellow color with light green reflections, brilliant and luminous robe. Active effervescence and persistent release.
