Masi Costasera Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2020 750ml

Masi 2020 Costasera is a full-bodied Amarone blend of 70% Corvina, 25% Rondinella, and 5% Molinara. Deep ruby in color, it displays aromas of stewed cherries, plums, coffee, cocoa, and subtle dried fruit. The palate is rich and balanced, with concentrated dark fruit, a velvety texture, and a long, layered finish. Potent yet elegant, it pairs beautifully with red meat, game, and aged cheeses, and has an aging potential of 30–35 years.

The Masi 2020 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Costasera (made with 70% Corvina, 25% Rondinella and 5% Molinara) shows dark fruit ripeness with meaty cherry and blackberry. Thanks to the younger vintage, you can appreciate the wine's primary intensity. A potent 15% alcohol content and a full-bodied texture sets this bottle up for a pairing with polenta and sausage. Tart cherry appears as a final send-off. Production of this popular wine is huge, with 660,000 bottles made.
The past year has been very exciting for the team at Masi thanks to new investments in Valpolicella and the up-and-coming Oltrepò Pavese region, known primarily for Pinot Noir-based sparkling wines. In Valpolicella, Masi inaugurated its Monteleone21 headquarters, tasting room and cultural center. The architecture of this showcase building is gorgeous, with modern stone walls that blend harmoniously into a terraced vineyard landscape. This is a must-see destination on your next trip to Verona.
In Oltrepò Pavese, Masi acquired historic Pinot Noir vineyards (and a beautiful Villa) to produce a new line of metodo classico sparkling wines called Moxxé del Re. The team also created a new commercial rosé called Rosa dei Masi made with Merlot sourced from across the Trevenezie IGT area and a "Prosecco con il Fondo" bottled with the lees according to local tradition. These last two wines should appeal to a young, value-conscious crowd.

A benchmark for the Amarone category, which, together with Barolo and Brunello, makes up the aristocracy of the Italian wine world. The product of Masi's unrivalled expertise in the appassimento technique, whereby traditional grapes for the Valpolicella Classica area Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara are laid out on bamboo racks to concentrate their aromas during the winter months.
