The wine aromatically leads with gentle spearmint and white strawberry, crushed rocks and even a hint of watermelon and Boscobel rose (raspberry leaf tea too). The wine spent seven years on the lees, and it is convincingly plump and pillowy in the mouth, like all the wines here today have been. There is shaved fennel, roasted hazelnuts and a gentle persuasion of smokiness in the background that I quite like (it reminds me of walking past Paris street vendors with the nuts in the carts), plus a hint of honey biscuit and fresh sea spray. Excellent. The 2015 vintage seems quite powerful and almost rambunctious but with lovely acid.
