SKU: RDFR20212837
This vibrant second wine from Lynch-Bages brings lively cassis, minty blackberry, and gentle herb notes. With a medium-bodied, creamy mouthfeel and polished tannins, it’s both inviting and well-structured. Bright acidity adds freshness, while a touch of rustic charm gives it character—ready to enjoy now and age gracefully towards 2035.

Black currant, chocolate and walnut aromas and flavors. It’s medium-bodied with polished tannins and a pretty texture. Vivid and creamy mouthfeel. Lovely finish. Second wine of Lynch-Bages. Better in 2025.

Reserved in style, with a hint of alder out front, followed by gently mulled black cherry and currant fruit. Shows subtle tugs of earth and bay leaf that run underneath, blossoming a bit through the dark finish. Solid. Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2025 through 2035. 13,800 cases made.

Seductively scented, deep and dark, ripe black fruits with very soft floral scents. Ripe, juicy and so approachable, such a great texture, mouthfilling in a delicate way. It's a cool style, with blue fruits - blueberries, plums. cherries - but the tannins are so well integrated and underpinned by quite high acidity that this just stays off being austere for the moment (but does give a healthy dose of firmness on the mid-palate). I love the overall feel, really well worked with a light overall frame. A slow burner with classic charm. 3.70pH.

The 2021 Echo de Lynch-Bages is a chunky, flavorful red, exhibiting aromas of cassis, minty blackberries, creamy new oak and fresh herbs. Medium to full-bodied, lively and youthfully structured, time will likely tame its slight rusticity.

The story behind the name…
On Mount Olympus… According to Greek mythology, Zeus – a sometimes fickle husband – entrusted the nymph Echo with distracting his wife Hera by engaging her in endless chatter when he wished to tarry with some beautiful mortal. Hera, on discovering this little game, pronounced sentence on the nymph with the following words: “You will never be the first to speak, but you will always have the last word”. Echo’s life had changed forever, but that is another story…
Back in Bordeaux… Château Haut-Bages Averous is a property in Pauillac, acquired some time ago by André Cazes. For over 30 years, it was Lynch-Bages’ second wine. In 2008, a new identity was given to the second wine, under the name “Echo de Lynch-Bages”.
Echo de Lynch-Bages displays savoury aromas of fresh red fruits. Round, mellow and seductive in its youth, its ability to age is outstanding.

Rock n’ Roll
The meteorological context in 2021 was complicated at times, marked by cool temperatures and a slight water deficit, resulting in a vintage that brought the expression of great “terroirs” to the front.
The climatic conditions at the end of September allowed the Cabernets to reach perfect maturity, of a particular high quality.
Alcohol by volume is moderate and back to classic levels, between 12.5 and 13.5% vol.
The wines offer a beautiful colour and have a good extractable anthocyanin content, despite the low temperature variations observed over the summer.
The ripening conditions and moderate water stress bring a powerful freshness and beautiful aromatic complexity, with very marked notes of fresh red fruits.
