Duemani Altrovino IGP Costa Toscana 2018 750ml

2018 Altrovino di Duemani is a biodynamic blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc from the Tuscan coast, offering pure, expressive notes of cherry, blackberry, garden herbs, and tobacco. Medium to full-bodied with round, polished tannins, it's juicy, balanced, and vibrant—refined with amphora-aged freshness and ideal with grilled meats or aged cheeses.

After the rich and more concentrated 2017 vintage, the 2018 Merlot Cabernet Franc Altrovino comes off as more specific to the grapes used in the blend. It shows light shadings of garden herb and spice that come from the Cabernet Franc (which is aged in terracotta amphorae), and those flavors are enhanced by the cherry and blackberry delivered by the Merlot. This is a beautifully pure expression, one of the clearest I remember in recent memory. The wine pours forth with dark fruit, spice, tilled earth and cured tobacco.

A juicy, fruity red with plum, berry and chocolate character, medium to full body and round, polished tannins. Pretty intensity and focus at the finish, where the flavors pop out. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
Duemani.eu
Altrovino di Duemani is a full-bodied red wine, characterized by Mediterranean and mineral hints of the Tuscan coast from which it comes. With a pleasantly fruity, spicy and balsamic nose. Composed and energetic on the palate.
LANDS
Clayey, saline soil, with a significant presence of calcareous skeleton.
VINIFICATION
Merlot and Cabernet Franc ferment spontaneously and separately in cement vats at a controlled temperature and with pumping over, followed by 20 days of maceration. A portion of the Cabernet Franc ferments in 500 and 600-liter terracotta amphorae to amplify the floral and fruity aromas of the grapes. When the wine is assembled, it is transferred to French oak truncated cone-shaped vats to undergo 8-month refinement. It does not undergo clarification or filtration.
TASTING
Altrovino presents itself in the glass with an intense and lively ruby dress. A nose of great breadth and breadth, which immediately brings to mind the Mediterranean scrub, ripe plum, black pepper and friggitello, returning a changing and profound profile. The sip is material, a velvet glove that takes possession of the palate, satisfying it and at the same time refreshing it with balsamic returns and a right dose of freshness.
COMBINATIONS
Perfect with aged cheeses, game, pasta with meat sauce, stewed red meat or roast and grilled meat.
