Domaine Albert Grivault Meursault 1er Cru 'Perrieres' is a premium wine that lies in the heart of the Meursault appellation. ETYMOLOGY: The word ‘murger’ underlines the presence of mainly flat, grey stones removed from the ground over the centuries by the winegrowers while working their vineyards. The word ‘clos’
emphasizes that the vine is surrounded by walls.
VINEYARD CHARACTERISTICS:
In Bourgogne the term ‘murger’ refers to stones removed from the ground and placed on the edge of vineyard plots where there is little soil; their presence is a distinctive characteristic in the region. The name
‘Clos du Murger’ is officially registered as a trademark. This enclosed area, totally surrounded by walls more than 2 meters high, has given its name to the village square that adjoins it.
VINIFICATION AND AWARDS:
Facing southwest, the 1 ha 65 ares 65 centiares of Meursault were planted in 1971. They produce approximately 9,300 bottles annually (average over 20 years). A selection of lightly seasoned French oak
barrels imparts aromatic nuances to this high-class Meursault. It has won numerous distinctions at the Concours Général Agricole de Paris, the Vinalies Internationales and the Concours des Vignerons Indépendants.
