Chateau Lynch Bages Pauillac *ETA Q3, 2027 En-Primeur* 2024 750ml

The 2024 Château Lynch-Bages is a classic Pauillac that delivers structure, energy, and refinement in equal measure. Deeply colored with a brooding nose of blackberries, violet, pepper and dark chocolate, it showcases the estate’s hallmark tannic frame and ripe Cabernet-driven intensity. Juicy yet composed, this vintage balances richness with elegance, revealing layers of fruit, spice and subtle minerality. With its poised structure and accomplished winemaking, this is a serious wine built to evolve beautifully over time.

A brooding nose, showing pulpy blackberries, ripe mulberries, peppercorns and violet extract. The signature Lynch-Bages tannin structure with good concentration of fruit helps deliver an almost full-bodied, structured red and a long, fruity finish. Wait and see. 70% cabernet sauvignon, 24% merlot, 3% cabernet franc and 3% petit verdot.

Floral and herbal on the nose with dark bramble fruit. Very Cabernet. Milk chocolate and vanilla too. Charming and relaxed with lovely tannin finesse. There’s ripeness and richness, this is silky with some fleshiness that adds a layer of texture but overall feels gentle and calm. Some bite at the end, wet stone and liquorice but actually this feels very complete. I like this expression, really not trying too hard. Sophisticated. Balanced. Nothing sticks out and although there’s tension and a sense of high, lean acidity the tannins do well to balance it out. This will be very enjoyable. Accomplished winemaking. 3% Petit Verdot completes the blend. Ageing 75% new oak for 18 months in French oak barrels. 3.67pH.

Cropped at 30 hectoliters per hectare (the lowest yield at this address since 1991), the 2024 Lynch-Bages is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc. Opening in the glass with aromas of minty berries and creamy new oak, it's medium to full-bodied, dense and heavily extracted, with firm, chalky tannins that assert themselves on the mouth-puckering finish. Lynch-Bages has historically performed well in challenging vintages, but the 2024 will demand considerable patience.

Outstandingly consistent quality…
The estate’s reputation as a top quality wine producer took off in 1945 after a series of exceptional vintages. Over the years, the wines have gained finesse and complexity. Château Lynch-Bages is defined by its outstandingly consistent quality. Vintage after vintage, the wine has acquired greater accuracy, adding distinction to the hedonistic that made its reputation.
The wine’s distinctive character has earned it a place amongst Pauillac’s greatest. Generous right from its youth, it develops structure, finesse and elegance as it matures.
