The 2024 Château La Fleur-Pétrus is a graceful and refined expression of Pomerol, built on the strength of its exceptional Merlot-dominant terroir. Offering plush aromas of plums, cherries, cocoa and cedar, the wine balances richness with freshness, supported by creamy tannins and a gently juicy finish. While polished and approachable, it also reveals depth and structure beneath its elegant surface. This vintage reflects the château’s signature blend of power and finesse, with a subtle mineral edge and a lingering floral lift.

Shows solid ripeness for the vintage with plums, cherries and some orange peel as well as hazelnuts and cedar on both the nose and palate. Medium-bodied, this has creamy tannins, a juicy finish and a bit of fresh acidity at the end. Pretty length. A blend of 99.5% merlot and 0.5% petit verdot.

Floral and fragranced on the nose. Smooth but quite tannic and creamy, this is it a little sombre with the initial tangy acidity fading into the background relatively quickly and more of a focus on the clean fruit which accentuate the darkly spiced elements of liquorice and clove. It’s well built, and serious, less fun than some but still with a solid frame and ripe fruit adding a touch of seduction. Just a bit oaky right now. Ageing 50% new oak barrels for 16-18 months.

Aromas of creamy dark berries, fruitcake and chocolate introduce the 2024 La Fleur-Pétrus, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and supple wine that's rich and creamy, with good depth at the core and soft structuring tannins.

    History
Chateau La Fleur-Petrus is one of the most renowned vineyards of Pomerol. This historic estate, situated exclusively on the plateau, was named in the 18th century for its position across the localities Petrus and La Fleur. Established in Libourne since 1937, Jean-Pierre Moueix perceived early on the excellent quality of the Pomerol appellation. Chateau La Fleur-Petrus was his very first acquisition in 1950. Quickly after, he purchased Chateau Trotanoy in 1953.

The personality of Chateau La Fleur-Petrus lies in the careful association of the famous gravel and clay terroirs of the plateau of Pomerol. The vineyard, located at 33 to 38 meters above sea level, draws its identity from the nuances of soil and elevation of each parcel. Those parcels which are dominated by gravel tend to yield wines of great elegance, while those dominated by clay are distinctly velvety, dense, and structured.

Chateau La Fleur-Petrus is composed predominantly of Merlot, which lends silkiness and generosity to the wine. Cabernet Franc, planted on gravel and fine clay, contributes rigor and complexity, while a small percentage of Petit Verdot, planted on fine gravel, offers a hint of spice to the finish.

The wine combines a unique elegance with the generosity and structure typical of the great vineyards of Pomerol. An attentive tasting reveals remarkable refinement, complexity, and a touch of violet.
