Chateau D'Armailhac Pauillac *ETA Q3, 2027 En-Primeur* 2024 750ml @ OWC6

The 2024 Château d’Armailhac is a refined and expressive Pauillac that captures the elegance of the vintage with poise and precision. Dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, it opens with fragrant floral and red berry notes, followed by a bright, energetic palate framed by fine tannins and a touch of salinity. Lighter in body but focused and vibrant, this is a stylish, mineral-driven wine that showcases the château’s classic charm with a fresh twist.

A fragrant, floral nose with fresh red cherries, berries and touches of cocoa powder and graphite. Bright and poised, this has medium body, vibrant acidity and an expressive finish. No sweetness. Juicier and more classic this year, though not as concentrated. 72% cabernet sauvignon, 14% merlot and 14% cabernet franc.

Floral and fruity, smells quite tangy - nicely scented though, really perfumed. Zingy, really alive and focussed in the glass. Almost sour but stays the right side of too tart with lift and focus. Not as much weight as some but the tannins are really fine and this has a menthol and mineral element. Vibrant and vivid. Focussed and streamlined in one single straight line with tension and a mineral bite. Light but elegant with a lifted finish. Ageing 50% new barrels, 18 months. 3.69pH.

Offering up pretty notes of sweet wild berries, rose petals and burning embers, the 2024 d'Armailhac is medium-bodied, bright and precise, with a sweet core of fruit but a somewhat strict, angular profile. If it rounds out with élevage, it will merit a better rating.

Tasting notes:
The 2024 vintage of Château d'Armailhac presents a harmonious and refined expression of Pauillac's classic style. It opens with an intense ruby red color and a crimson hue. The nose is dominated by bilberry and raspberry notes, accompanied by subtle blackcurrant bud aromas and a touch of peppermint. On the palate, the wine is bracing and arrow-straight, displaying bright energy before unfolding into an elegant, smoothly textured body with a silky mouthfeel. A touch of salinity enhances the lingering impression of elegance and purity.
