The 2021 Dr. Loosen Ürziger Würzgarten GG Alte Reben is a standout dry Riesling from one of the Mosel's most unique and striking vineyards. Grown on steep, red volcanic and slate soils, this wine delivers a beautifully refined and flinty bouquet with ripe Riesling fruit, wild herbs, and vineyard peach. On the palate, it’s lush yet precise, with a silky texture, vibrant acidity, and a long, saline finish. Powerfully elegant and deeply expressive, it’s already drinking well but will evolve beautifully through 2050.

The 2021 Ürziger Würzgarten GG Alte Reben offers a clear, beautifully refined and flinty bouquet of ripe and elegant Riesling fruit spiced with stony splinters. Lush and refined on the palate, this is a very elegant, saline and textured Riesling with enormous salinity in the mouth-watering, rich and intense finish. Definitely the finest GG of the vintage here. 12.5% alcohol. Tasted as a sample at the domaine in July 2022. To be bottled in October.

The power and concentration of this wine are elegantly underplayed. Lots of wild berries and herbs, but also plenty of red-fleshed vineyard peach. What a wonderful balance! Long and silky finish that pulls you inexorably back for more. Drinkable now, but best from 2023.

Blazing red and precipitously steep, the Ürziger Würzgarten vineyard forms a massive amphitheater of Rotliegendes (a red, volcanic sandstone) and red slate that is unlike any other site in the Mosel region. Although it lies immediately upstream from the vineyards of Erden, Ürziger Würzgarten produces an entirely different expression of Riesling, with great depth, tantalizing exotic fruits and spicy aromas.
