SINGAPORE, November 2018
For the first time in the distillery’s history, Auchentoshan has handpicked and bottled a rare expression of single malt Scotch just for Singapore. The Auchentoshan 1987 30 Year Old Single Cask is bottled exclusively for 1855 The Bottle Shop, and only 383 bottles of this limited edition whisky are available worldwide.
Founded in 1823 on the outskirts of Glasgow, Auchentoshan is a distinctly urban single malt that is renowned for being triple-distilled to the last drop, making it an exceptionally smooth, delicate tasting single malt Scotch whisky. The Auchentoshan 1987 30 Year Old Single Cask is no exception ? it is smooth, refined and absolutely delicious.
‘At Auchentoshan, we’re really excited to launch the Single Cask programme, and I personally handpicked a refilled Oloroso Sherry Butt for Singapore as I felt it would appeal to the Asian palate, allowing more of the spirit character from the distillery to come through,’ enthuses Auchentoshan’s Master Blender Ron Welsh.
To the eye, The Auchentoshan 1987 30 Years Old Single Sherry Cask presents a beautiful burnished gold colour. On the nose, it reveals sweet honey and molasses notes moving to exotic fruits, guava, melon and white peaches. This limited edition bottle delivers taste of acacia honey with lychees and rose petal, cooked apple sprinkled with cinnamon, a hint of white pepper, sweet spices and light ginger. The finish is sweet with fresh oaky spices and vanilla. Welsh recommends savouring a dram of it neat, noting that it is “perfect as it is”.
“We aim to raise the bar by bringing one-of-a-kind whisky experiences to our customers, and we are proud to partner with Auchentoshan to offer the Singapore exclusive 30 Years Old Single Cask Whisky. There are only 383 bottles in the world, and all will be exclusive to 1855 The Bottle Shop,” says Lim Jing Zhe, Managing Director of 1855 The Bottle Shop.
