Reserve de La Comtesse Pauillac 2008 1500ml

The 2014 Reserve de la Comtesse shows off the estate’s finesse in a more restrained vintage. A blend led by Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, it offers polish, poise, and just the right amount of plushness—proof that even in quieter years, this second wine from Pichon Lalande can really shine.

A solid red with blueberry, blackberry and currant character. Full and chewy. Long and rich. Very pretty second wine for this vintage. Drink or hold.

Fifty percent Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc with a touch of Petit Verdot has resulted in a chocolatey, ripe, round, elegant style of wine with medium body, sweet tannins, and a good finish. Drink it over the next 5-8 years.

Tasted blind. Glowing crimson. Thoroughly correct, classy élevage. Pure inky fragrance with nicely constructed palate. Savoury and luscious at the same time. Well done. Very refreshing.
