The 1999 Pavillon Rouge is elegant and balanced with nice herbal notes and a silky texture. It’s got the charm of the grand vin but is lighter and less concentrated. Ready to drink now but can keep aging a bit longer.

This is an estate where the quality of the second wine is more than a simple afterthought. The 1999 Pavillon Rouge de Margaux exhibits notes of herbs in its elegant, medium-bodied, forward, complex personality. It possesses the character of its big sister, but not the weight, concentration, or length. Enjoy it over the next decade.

The very fine balance and charm of the first wine can be found in the Pavillon Rouge, with less complexity, length and density. It has an appealing fruit character, so silky on the palate, it would be a shame to not start drinking it now, but it will continue to age. (October 2018)
