Leeuwin Estate Art Series Riesling 2023 750ml

The 2023 Leeuwin Estate Art Series Riesling is a fresh, vibrant wine reflecting a mild and even growing season in Margaret River. It bursts with lively aromas of sea salt, chalk, lime, green apple, and jasmine, with herbal hints of fennel seed and Thai basil adding complexity. On the palate, zesty lemons and limes shine through, supported by a bright acidity and a mineral-driven, briny finish that’s elegant and refined. This medium-bodied Riesling is crisp and balanced, perfect for drinking now but with good potential to age.

The 2023 Art Series Riesling marks another lovely release of this wine. The 2023 season in Margaret River was even and mild—superb, in short—and the whites that I have seen released so far express the conditions so eloquently. Here, the wine is aromatically laden with sea salt, chalk, brine, soft leafy herbs, scratched lime, green apple and jasmine flowers. It is plump without being pudgy, soft while retaining form and line, and perhaps most importantly, it is delicious. A lovely wine. 12% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

I recall drinking this wine in Sydney’s Chinatown in the late ‘80’s when it was all the rage. Mid-weighed, limey, a lick of petrol and very tangy acidity serving to corset a dry, somewhat soapy finish. Delicious at the South East Asian-inspired table. Drink now. Screw cap.

An energetic and vibrant nose, nestled within a fruit spectrum bursting with Tahitian lime, Lisbon lemon and a hint of green apple. The aromatics of fennel seed, Thai basil, and lime leaf add an extra and intriguing layer of complexity.
Delicately textured, yet equally exuberant, limes and zesty lemons feature at the forefront of the palate. There is minerality and brine-like structure providing elegance and finesse, leading to a finely boned acid frame with a talc like finish.
