Duemani IGP Costa Toscana 2019 750ml

The 2019 Duemani Cabernet Franc is a standout, offering a rich, full-bodied profile with layers of black fruit, sweet spices, tobacco, and a touch of espresso. It’s creamy and textured, with a long finish that will evolve beautifully with more bottle age. Perfect for those who enjoy a complex, powerful red, but best after a few years of aging.

Fragrant nose of violets, dried flowers, plums, morello cherries, milk chocolate and toffee. It's supple and juicy, with a medium body and creamy tannins. Lovely, plush plum fruit and a caressing, lengthy finish. Very structured at the end. Needs a couple of years at least. This is in form like a top long distance runner. From organically/biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Drink after 2025.

The Duemani 2019 Cabernet Franc Duemani ferments in oak and ages in barrique. This renders a very creamy and richly textured wine with substantial fruit weight, sweet spice and tobacco. There is a toasted note of espresso bean and scorched earth, but the wine is consistent with the variety and the rich nature of this vintage. It also shows elegant restraint despite its natural power. This is a full-bodied red (both organic and biodynamic) with very broad shoulders. It needs more bottle aging and eventually a double decanting before being poured.
Duemani, the wine estate founded in 2000 by Elena Celli and Luca D’Attoma, was sold to Tenute del Leone Alato. The announcement was made earlier this month in May 2023. Located in Riparbella, Tuscany, Duemani is an organic and biodynamic estate with 12 hectares of vines. Tenute del Leone Alato is part of the Italian insurance group Generali.

Duemani's flagship wine is this 100% Cabernet Franc, a selection of the estate's best vines grown on limestone soils in Riparbella. Spontaneous fermentation in oak is followed by 30 days on the skins then maturation for 22 months in 225 and 228l barrels. Herbal and leafy, crunchy and vibrant, its black fruit character is filled out with creamy chocolate. Smooth and fresh, it has good weight but feels light on its feet.

The refinement began in December 2019 and the wine remained for 22 months in 225/228 lt. French oak barriques, 80% new wood and 20% first passage. It does not undergo clarification or filtration.
TASTING NOTES
Inked with a vivid sparkling ruby. The nose envelops with hints of red fruit compote, woodland sensations, infusions of aromatic herbs, spices, bitter orange peel, slate and wild tones. On the palate it explodes with grace and power, signature tannins and sparkling freshness support the infinite persistence. Tasty.
