Clos La Gaffelière 2016 is a refined second wine from Château La Gaffelière, offering a vivid profile of blackberry, rose petals, and mineral nuances. Made predominantly from Merlot with a touch of Cabernet Franc, it balances savory structure with approachable fruit. Aged in seasoned barrels, this wine delivers elegance and easy-drinking charm with added depth in this vintage, thanks to favorable late-season ripening conditions.

Vivid and fruity with hints of blackberry and mineral undertones. Medium to full body, tight palate. Savory and delicious already.

A little tighter than the 2015, this is good quality but needs shaking out with a few hours in a carafe. Once it unfurls, you get rose petals on the nose and touches of bitter cherry on the finish. It's worth noting that, as of this 2016 vintage, Clos Gaffeliere is no longer the same blend as Dame de la Gaffeliere (they were alternative names of the second wine depending on the export market) - this is a little more serious in style, while Dame is a little more fruity and often 100% Merlot.

The second label made by the team of château La Gaffelière. Born in 1985, Clos La Gaffelière has his own vat room and cellars. Ageing is done, in large part, in one and two years old barrels

The blend is usually a large majority of Merlot ( up to 90%) and the rest of Cabernet Franc
90% from our clayey foothills ,this wine made by the team of Château La Gaffelière, it is vinified and aged with just as much care as the lots making up the first wine.

An authentic, pleasure-giving and easy drinking wine.

On specific foreign markets, Clos is sold under the label DAME GAFFELIERE.

    Ageing
12 months in one- and two-year barrels. Three rackings General characteristics of the vintage Flowering was quick and uniform and lasted until mid June. It took place under warm and quite dry conditions. July was wet with some high temperatures, and storms sometimes accompanied by hail. The result was active growth of the vines and enlargement of the berries. Véraison was spread out from end July to 20 August, given the wet conditions at the beginning of August. The fine weather as from the end of August stopped the growth of the vine and allowed for quicker and more complete ripening of the grapes. The day / night temperature variations favoured concentration and preservation of aromas in the skins.
