Clos Grange Neuve Pomerol 2016 750ml

The 2016 Clos Grangeneuve is a modest Bordeaux offering, leaning into firm black fruit and mineral tones. While it shows promise as a medium-term drinker, critics note its slightly austere structure and lack of mid-palate juiciness, suggesting a wine best enjoyed in its youth rather than cellared long-term.

Here we are sticking to firm black fruits and touches of wet stone minerality which pull you up on the finish. Ideally a little more juiciness would run through the mid-palate, but this is a good medium term drinker. The tannins are just a little foursquare compared to some.

The 2016 Clos Grangeneuve has a pleasant bouquet with clean black cherry and cranberry scents, the oak a little obvious at the moment, but that will be subsumed with time. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly raw tannin and it seems to lacks some freshness towards the austere, slightly dry finish.
