The 2019 Château d'Armailhac is a deep garnet-red wine with a rich, aromatic profile featuring intense black fruit, vanilla, pepper, and mild spices. The palate is structured with a creamy, satin-smooth body, showcasing black fruit and chocolate flavors, and is complemented by well-integrated, smooth tannins. Floral and licorice notes lead to a long, elegant finish. This wine benefits from the excellent climatic conditions of 2019, which produced grapes of outstanding quality, with rich color and a high alcohol content. It is a promising vintage that will continue to evolve well, especially after 2025, offering good aging potential well into the 2040s.

Wonderful florality on the nose, perfumed and full of black cherries. Great freshness here, such good juice content, immediately so alive and fresh, there is a real buzz to this wine with some creamy/chalky edges that are so refreshing. Great personality with vibrant fruit. Rich and layered, super concentrated but with this fun lively aspect. Tannins are chewy and ripe because of the weather but there's a great lift and sense of life to this. I really like it. A blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.

More classically proportioned than the exuberant 2018, the 2019 D'Armailhac wafts from the glass with aromas of violets, blackberries and cassis complemented by subtle hints of licorice, sweet soil tones and warm spices. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and perfumed, it'sfleshy and enveloping, with an ample core of succulent fruit and beautifully polished, powdery tannins.

Tasted blind. Deep crimson. Light and a little loose-textured. Sweet start. A bit jagged. Not the most sophisticated.

    Tasting notes:
The wine is a deep, garnet-hued red.
The nose exudes intense black fruit aromas enhanced by notes of vanilla, pepper and mild spice.
From a structured and sappy attack, the mid-palate reveals a creamy, satin-smooth body on black fruit and chocolate flavours. Perfectly integrated, smooth and well-rounded tannins linger on a pleasant touch of fruit.
Floral and liquorice notes usher in a long and elegant finish.

    Climatic conditions
The year started with a warmer- and drier-than-usual winter, with the temperature reaching a record 24.7° C on 27 February. The mild weather triggered an early start to the vine cycle, which gradually slowed with the arrival of a cooler spring and lower-than-average temperatures. As a result, flowering finally took place around the normal time.

After sharply contrasting conditions in June, when a late cold spell and heavy rainfall were followed by an early heatwave, very fine weather prevailed in July. The summer was particularly sunny and hot, leaving the vines in perfect condition on the eve of the harvest. A few welcome showers in July and August greatly helped to dispel any fears of dehydration.

Picking at Château d’Armailhac took place between 19 September and 9 October. Although a few drops of rain fell during the harvest, the conditions remained generally very good, guaranteeing grapes of outstanding quality.

Mirroring nature’s generosity in 2019, the wines are very rich, deeply coloured and with good alcohol content. Close-knit, satin-smooth tannins make this a very promising vintage.
