Trimbach Riesling Cuvee Frederic Emile 2016 750ml

Nicknamed "Freddie" by insiders, this iconic dry Riesling from Trimbach is everything a serious white wine should be—powerful, precise, and packed with personality. The 2016 vintage shows off bright lemon-sherbet energy, a salty mineral streak, and layers of herbs, florals, and citrus. James Suckling called it “long and very elegant,” while The Wine Advocate praised its crystalline structure and aging potential.

The lemon-sherbet note here is really beautiful. Then comes a wealth of herbs, ranging from thyme to parsley, with a touch of sea salt, before turning to more floral nuances, such as cherries and almond blossom. The powerful acidity seems to surround the whole mouth and makes this almost like licking a lemon; the unmistakable dryness is all the more enjoyable because of it. Long and very elegant on the finish. Drink now.

The 2016 Riesling Frédéric Emile reveals a clear, bright and slightly flinty bouquet with citrus aromas and delicate intensity. Round and elegant on the palate, this is a powerful, intense and complex cuvée with persistent salinity and remarkable phenolic structure. Although this is a rather crystalline and filigreed Frédéric Emile, it still needs some time to show its best talents. This has 13.2% stated alcohol plus almost two grams per liter of residual sugar. Tasted at the domaine in May 2022.

Exposed south and south-east, the Grands Crus Geisberg and Osterberg terroirs of Ribeauvillé which overlook the estate have given birth to this wine for several generations.
The average age of the vines, around 45 years, offers limited yields.
The marl-limestone-sandstone and shell limestone composition of the terroir (Muschelkalk), as well as the well-ripened grapes strictly selected by hand, give this wine a remarkable personality: a dry and powerful Riesling, underlined by a mineral note and with finely chopped acidity.
Prestigious signature of the house, the Frédéric Emile, often nicknamed FE or Freddie, is sought after by connoisseurs and collectors.
Pairings : great gastronomy, noble fish, caviar, fine white meats.
Aging potential : the great vintages of Frédéric Emile mature for twenty years or more.
