Chateau Siran Margaux 2019 750ml

The 2019 Château Siran is a bold and charming Margaux with loads of personality. It’s got plush layers of dark fruit, chocolate, and toasted oak, with a silky texture and a warm, generous finish. There’s a floral lift from the violets and a spicy kick from the Petit Verdot that adds some flair. Still structured and a bit tight, but it’s shaping up beautifully and will really hit its stride with a bit more time. One to stash away and enjoy over the next couple of decades—definitely one of Siran’s standout vintages.

Lovely, soft tannins with a juicy and flavorful palate of currants, slightly toasted oak and chocolate. It’s full-bodied and layered with a plush texture and a long, flavorful finish. Warm and rather flamboyant for the vintage. Try in 2025.

A great vintage for Siran, with expansive aromas of violets and a new freshness and finesse. A special black and gold label celebrates the 160th vintage under Miailhe family ownership.

Exhibiting aromas of rich currant fruit and creamy new oak, the 2019 Siran is medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with lively acids and ripe, powdery tannins that assert themselves on the youthfully chewy finish. This is a flavorful, nicely balanced wine that will reward a bit of bottle age.

Tasted blind. Much deeper, darker crimson than most. Flashier than most Margaux. Not so typical. Lots of extraction – sort of halfway to a St-Émilion. Tough tannins on the end. A long-term bet that others liked more than me.

Château Siran is the result of a subtle blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, which reflects the identity of its terroir. The relatively high percentage of petit verdot brings a spicy note that reinforces the unique character of Siran’s wines.
Both powerful and subtle, Siran’s wines always seek a balance between the softness of the tannins, the intensity of the fruit and a persistent freshness. Siran wines are known for their aging potential, even long aging that will delight the most patient.
“A superb 2019 vintage, impressive in precision and density.”
Spared of frost, spared of hail, benefiting from a nice flowering in June, this vintage will have still had to face two heat waves, a first at the end of June and a second at the end of July with scorching temperatures, exceeding 40 degrees for a few days, tempered by cool nights. The saving rains in September allowed the grapes to reach good maturity. The wine is a great classic Médoc, rich in colour and complexity, powerful and delicate at the same time, silky and soft as the great Margaux wines know how to be.
Harvest: From September 23 to October 11, 2019
Blend: 47% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc.
