A standout success from a challenging vintage, this Margaux delivers impressive depth and character. Layers of ripe black fruits, spice, and subtle earthiness unfold into a full-bodied, structured palate with silky tannins and a long, satisfying finish. Already drinking beautifully with further aging potential—an elegant, under-the-radar gem for collectors and Bordeaux lovers alike.

This is a concentrated wine for the vintage, with spice and earth character. Full body, chewy tannins and a long finish. A little rustic now but will deliver so much pleasure. Better in 2016.

Deep and rich in colour, this offers damson and cassis notes right from the start. It's good quality, powerful and concentrated - which is not always the case in 2011. It's not perfectly balanced but it has grip and a sense of belief. The tannins gently layer over each other through the palate, so when you reach the close of play you feel them closing in, even though you were barely aware of them before. A lovely quality that gives confidence for further ageing.

Typically, the quintessential feminine side of Margaux is represented by Prieure-Lichine-s 2011. Floral, raspberry, black cherry and currant notes intermixed with spice box are present in this deep ruby/purple-colored effort. The richness builds incrementally and becomes more impressive than it initially seems. A well-made, supple-textured, delicious 2011, it is an undeniable success for the vintage. Enjoy it over the next 15 years.

Tasted blind. Shaded crimson. More interesting, savoury, herbal notes on the nose than some of its peers. Though it’s pretty tough and tart on the palate. You need to wait a while and cross your fingers very tightly.

    Prieure-lichine.fr

The 2011 vintage can be defined as a complex year that was dicult to come to terms with, since all our points of reference had been shaken up. The potential of the Prieuré-Lichine terroir would once again come to our aid and guide us in our choices and expectations in this atypical vintage.
The year began with significant winter water deficit in the soils. A hot and dry spring accelerated vine vegetation growth, and the frst flowering appeared on Merlot vines at the beginning of May. A homogenous flowering process brought the prospect of a very early harvest (3 weeks advance on a normal year) and a large potential crop size.
The heat-wave week-end of 26th and 27th June put everything into question, afecting especially the Cabernet, which was less well protected by its foliage from the hot sun. As from 14th July, spring-like weather settled in the vineyards with rain storms and cool temperatures. Constant monitoring of the vineyards, baked up with substantial de-leang to ventilate the bunches, enabled us to bring our grapes to ripeness.
The harvest took place from 12th to 29th September, making
the advance only ten days over the normal expected dates.
Appropriate and ecient use of an optical sorting line guaranteed that the grapes that went into vats for fermentation were in excellent health.
Despite the climatic dificulties and an « inverted » weather
pattern, vinications lasting an average period of 25 days gave us wines with very deep colour, surprising concentration, with Cabernet that showed breed and power. The Merlot brought volume and unctuous texture to our blend.
