The 2012 Pichon Baron offers a rich and complex profile, with fresh red fruit, Morello cherry, and blackcurrant aromas, alongside subtle menthol notes. Full-bodied and creamy on the palate, the wine is beautifully structured with velvety tannins. While approachable now, this vintage has excellent ageing potential, promising even greater elegance and depth over time. A classic Pichon Baron with great longevity.

A pretty core of ripe-berry, currant and mineral character to this red with a full body, silky tannins and a fresh finish to add. Creamy texture. Better in 2017.

As for the big sibling, the 2012 Pichon Baron (80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot) probably has the most saturated purple color of the Pauillacs. Its structure is apparent, and the wine offers a wealth of blackcurrant fruit interwoven with licorice, graphite, and background toasty oak. Full-bodied, opulent and moderately tannic, this wine is approachable now because of its low acidity, but promises to age beautifully for 20 years. This is another great classic from Pichon Baron.

As a vintage, 2012 was similar to 2014, but with a notch less intensity and ripeness. The nose is muted, with blackcurrant and blackberry aromas. It's oaky but stylish, with some torrefied notes. Rich and full-bodied, the palate is velvety and concentrated, with imposing fruit. It's more forward and shows less tension than 2014, but has a lot of structure for the vintage. Supple tannins on the long finish.

Full bottle 1,372 g. The first vintage in which the château was called Pichon Baron after a long period as Pichon Longueville.
Shaded, transparent garnet. Concentrated, savoury nose with great balance. Already drinking well but with a spine of ripe tannins still in evidence so there is no hurry to consume. The palate is less intense than the nose and if there is a shortcoming, it’s that it is not exceptionally long. But the finish is neat. There's real class in this bottle.

    Pichonbaron.com

Château Pichon Baron 2012 offers an intense, almost opaque garnet colour. There is a great aromatic presence of fresh red fruit, Morello cherry and blackcurrant, with light notes of menthol. The attack is juicy, full, creamy and elegant with a very oticeable bouquet of fruit. It continues with fleshy, weighty, lively and refreshing tannins. The precise, delicate finish heralds a bright future. This wine can be enjoyed in its fruit-driven youth, but will express itself fully when it reaches the height of its great ageing potential.
