The 2011 Château Beychevelle is an elegant and approachable Saint-Julien with a supple, fruit-forward profile. The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot yields aromas of blackberry, redcurrant, and hazelnut, with earthy and spicy notes. Medium-bodied with chewy tannins and fresh acidity, it offers balance and charm rather than power. Aged gracefully, it’s drinking beautifully now, with the structure to age through the 2030s.

A pretty open structure right now, supple raspberry and redcurrant fruits running through it, open and frank and a lovely time to drink. It opens well with fruit through the mid palate and there is a ton of potential, with a spicy finish. 2% Petit Verdot completes the blend. A yield of 39.5hl/ha.

Beychevelle appears to have handled the 2011 vintage in an intelligent manner, producing a soft, round, attractive, medium-bodied wine that, while not terribly deep or powerful, is well-balanced with excellent equilibrium and lots of dusty, loamy soil notes interwoven with black cherry and plummy fruit. This pretty St.-Julien can be drunk over the next decade.

Ever since it was first produced, and down through the various vintages, Château Beychevelle has reflected the elegance and finesse of Saint Julien's finest terroirs.Graceful and complex, with a tremendous aromatic richness, Château Beychevelle is made from the best plots in the vineyard and undergoes a rigorous selection process.It reveals its character after about ten years, and can be kept for several decades, depending on the vintage.
