Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande Pauillac 2005 750ml

The 2005 vintage of Pichon Comtesse de Lalande opens with an inviting bouquet of cassis, forest floor, and earthy aromas. Medium-bodied and elegant, it embodies the classic finesse of the estate, though it does not possess the immense richness that its nose suggests. With a slightly fleshy character compared to other Pauillac wines from this vintage, it provides a more accessible and fun experience while still showing depth. It’s an elegant wine, displaying purity and balance, perfect for drinking now or over the next decade and a half.

This needs time in the glass, but unfurls to reveal cedar, cinnamon, tobacco, cassis and rose notes. It's heady and confident stuff that I've tasted several times over the past few months and have been hugely impressed by, especially with food. 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot.
Closure: Natural Cork
Alcohol: 13.00%

What a nose on this, with orchids and currants, this is very perfumed and pretty. Full-bodied, with bright and lively acidity. Rose petals and citrus fruit on the palate give way to a long and intense finish. Wait and see where this goes.

The 2005 Pichon Lalande, with its aromatics of cassis, forest floor and earth are followed by a medium-bodied wine that doesn?t have quite the length and richness the aromatics suggest. Nevertheless, it is medium-bodied, elegant, and pure, and a classic example for this Chateau. Drink it now as well as over the next 15 or so years. It is showing better than my earlier notes suggest.

Tasted blind. Dark crimson. Fleshier than the average Pauillac 2005 and therefore fun! Though relatively precocious.

« Like the creation of a brand-new blend, music, through its vibrations and the unique way it resonates, has this incredible power of plunging us into our inner silence, into our most intimate emotions.
Each tune chosen forges close ties with wine and history, our history, that of Pichon Comtesse. Where were we? What did we feel? Which path did we take? And what about you? What will you feel? That’s how wine is set to music… » Nicolas Glumineau
