A seamless Champagne, deftly knitting flavors of crushed black raspberry, tangerine peel, chalk and Marcona almond with the fine china–like acidity and satiny mousse. The graceful balance gives this an effortless feel, but there's intensity and drive to this well-tailored version. Long and fragrant on the finish, with hints of ground ginger, blood orange zest and mineral. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Drink now through 2040. 544 cases imported.

Louis Roederer's 2016 Brut Vintage is derived primarily from Pinot Noir from Verzy and incorporates 32% Chardonnay from Chouilly, though this is about to change with the 2019 release, when it will become a pure Verzy, giving stronger identity to the village. The soil here is rich in clay, and the slopes face east, explains Jean-Baptiste Lecaillon. Disgorged in June 2024 with seven grams per liter dosage, it wafts from the glass with a bouquet of juicy pear, red berries, hazelnut and smoke. Medium to full-bodied, pillowy and textural, it has a slightly richer core of fruit compared to the more delicate and citrusy Blanc de Blancs and will richly reward a few additional years under cork.

The 2016 vintage of this Brut is an absolute cracker. Made with all three Champagne grapes, it's expressive, rich and textured, yet remarkably elegant. Layers of red apple skin, plum and apricot are balanced by baking spice, a hint of smoke and a cool mineral core. In the glass, it reveals increasing nuance over time. Fabulous.

« This 2016 Vintage is a vibrant tribute to the Pinot noir from La Montagne. Since the 2013 vintage, we have been striving to achieve this singular expression of the Verzy Pinot noirs originating from the first vines bought by Louis Roederer back in the mid-19th century. »

« A chameleon champagne, concentrated, fruity and deep. It is all the power and maturity of the Verzy Pinot noir that is sought here. »

The ultimate expression of our estate of "La Montagne"
This vintage champagne, aims to capture the ultimate expression of the Pinot noir from our “La Montagne” estate, concentrated on the original vines purchased by the Champagne House. The Vintage is therefore a testament to an exceptional year, a snapshot of a terroir that has undergone a slow maturation process.
A wine that is concentrated and powerful
Composed of Pinot noir sometimes complemented by Chardonnay, the Vintage cuvée is generally matured on lees for 4 years and left for a minimum of 6 months after dégorgement (disgorging) to attain perfect maturity.
A perfect balance
The power and maturity of the Verzy Pinot Noir forge its identity, its notes of intense fruit, juicy pear and concentrated citrus, almost candied, acidic red fruits.
